When budget cuts close a children's home in Philadelphia, teacher Vivian Perry wants to take eight special education students to her aunt's farm outside Seattle. In desperate need of a driver and mechanic for the bus, she teams up with Joe Braxton, an equally desperate ex-con who's not fond of children. It's a bumpy road as the motley crew battle mishaps, mayhem and one another on their trek west.
